What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis/Ecema is a chronic skin condition characterized by inflamed skin that produces red, thickened patches covered with silver-colored scales or plaques. Psoriasis commonly occurs on the elbows, knees, scalp, groin, arms, legs, palms, soles of the feet and nails. The exact cause of psoriasis/eczema is unknown. Recent discoveries lead scientists to suspect that the condition stems from an immune system disorder.
Psoriasis/Ezcema is not contagious. It tends to run in families. Psoriasis commonly appears between the ages of 15 - 35; and often becomes a life-long chronic illness. Patients usually experience alternating periods of flare-ups and remissions.
What is Vitiligo?
Vitiligo is a skin disorder characterized by white patches that can occur anywhere on the body. No one knows the precise cause of vitiligo; the condition stems from a lack of normal melanin pigment. Vitiligo occurs when pigment-producing melanocyte cells are destroyed or fail to function properly. Researchers believe malfunctions in the nervous system or the immune system may injure or destroy the melanocytes. Since vitiligo can be inherited, there is also a genetic element to the disease. The condition affects about 1-2% of the population.
New Treatment Option: Xtrac Ultra Laser
The B Clear and XTRAC® Lasers are the first FDA cleared laser systems for the treatment of psoriasis and vitiligo. These lasers directly targets the psoriasis lesion with a narrow, focused laser beam to safely deliver super-narrowband UVB phototherapy to pinpoint specific regions needing treatment. The laser also repigments white areas of the skin with melanocytes in patients with vitiligo.
Pain-free laser targets just the Psoriasis/Vitiligo lesions.
Normal skin is not exposed to unnecessary UV light.
Psoriasis/Vitiligo remission possible in just 6-10 brief treatment sessions.1
